I remember being younger watching tv and this movie being on ALL the time. It was always this film and "Little Monsters" which leads me to believe it was released around the same time.
There's 3 things I recall about it
1) There was always like smoke or something coming from the attic and kids would always look up at it.
2) The Couch like eats the father or something
3) There's a bunch of monsters in the basement which nail the main "kid" into a coffin
