What does it take for a studio to release a movie on DVD? Well in any case I don't know what I can do personally, but I signed this. I don't know who's running this petition and where it will go
Night of the Comet (http://www.petitiononline.com/9812564/petition-sign.html?)
I signed, that is great 80's cheese, and I mean that in the nicest way.
Yeah, i can't figure out how worse movies end up on dvd but this is a great 80's classic. I also want THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN on dvd
Susan, you'll find alot of the Universal International Sci Fi/Monster films from the 1950's have not been released on DVD. (with the exception of the Creature films & IT CAME FROM OUTERSPACE).
I'm still waiting for
THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN
THE MONOLITH MONSTERS
MONSTER ON CAMPUS
THIS ISLAND EARTH
TARANTULA
Oh & I haven't seen it for years, but I'm a fan of NIGHT OF THE COMET also.
Thanks for the heads up on this petition Susan. Night Of The Comet has been long overdue for a DVD release.
Not to mention The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik Yak.
Kelli Maroney (now known as Zoe Kelli Simon; Simon is her married name) said that the director of Night Of The Comet was very interested on getting it on DVD, but when he went digging for info on who currently owned it, no one seemed to know. Wouldn't one of the producers (such as Wayne Crawford) know? It seems weird that no one would know who owned the damned movie.
LH-C,
Don't hold me to it, but I believe that Vestron held the rights to the film. If that was the case, then the rights would have reverted to Artisan in the 90s which would have gone to Lion's Gate now.
Skaboi - Seriously, I'm thinking the director got the run around on this because maybe whoever owns the rights doesn't care about getting it on DVD for a long time if ever.
LH-C,
I might have been mistaken. Here's a site about Mary Woronov's filmography that lists it as being released by (CBS/FOX). So....I'm not quite sure at this point who owns the rights.
Yet they can put out pure and total dreck like "Look Who's Talking" + "Too" + "Now".
Yeesh.
