Title: Oasis of Zombies (1983)
Post by: Scott on May 01, 2005, 06:58:32 PM
OASIS OF ZOMBIES (1983) - (a.k.a the moment Menard is waiting for ! ) Euro-Zombie film directed by Jess Franco. I actually enjoyed this film except the zombie parts.  All those characters backgrounds leading to their little trip to the Nazi treasure in the oasis and the way the film was shot and dubbed was actually kinda cozy as you know I've always  appreciated those Euro-Horror films. Though not the best of the Euro-Horror by any means this film still fits nicely into the bunch.

Why? Are they so bad?

The director did manage to keep that worm on a few zombies noses long enough to make the shot. They were just zombies in the desert. They didn't set up those scenes well. The cheap looking WWII action was more interesting. There was one scene where zombies are eating the intestines and organs from one of the females.

EWWWW! You must have had those eyelids taped open. Oh, that's right, you had them removed. (:

I guess for its really, really bad parts (a.k.a. 85 minutes of the movie) some parts can be enjoyed for how bad they are. The dubbing on this was probably the most enjoyable part as it rarely matched the emotion of the action (such as a running screaming character having a calm voice dubbed in).

I have to ask, as you did say that you enjoyed it (heh...heh); did you fast forward through any of it? (:

Oh, BTW, EWWWW!

"I actually enjoyed this film except the zombie parts."

You're a sick man Scott. 30 minutes into this movie I had to go to the hospital because I was trying to gnaw off my own tongue.

Hey, Scott puts himself through quite a bit of abuse to bring us his thoughts on these movies. He is a very strong man as far as I'm concerned...well, either that or he's completely insane.

Both ZOMBIE LAKE and OASIS OF ZOMBIES would make a wonderful little double feature.

In OASIS OF ZOMBIES,  I kinda liked the story of the survivor of the desert battle who fell in love with the Arab girl and she died giving birth to a son who later grew up in England while the father stayed in North Africa in the Shieks home for a long time after. The father gets killed by a treasure hunter over a map to the Nazi treasure and the son goes to Africa with his silly friends to local the treasure. Only to find it protected by Zombies.

Holy convoluted plot batman!

I didn't know my brain could bleed from reading a plotline.

I havent yet had the courage for Zombie Lake, but one of these days I'll bite the bullet and rent it just to say I've seen all the aquatic nazi zombie flicks (At least all the ones I know about anyway). Throw in Shockwaves and Night of the Zombies II and you have yourself a nazi zombie marathon that would kill any mortal man. Well any mortal man besides Scott of course. : )

Nazi zombie movie hysteria. The signs are obvious: that glazed eye look, watching the TV screen with a gaped jaw expression waiting in dire anticipation for the next lapse in utter boredom.

Yes fellow bad movie lovers, it is a frightening syndrome of which we must all be cautious, lest we fall within its malignant grasp and begin to believe hallucinatory thoughts like Jess Franco is a good director (shudder).

Won't you contribute to the 'Save Scott from Nazi Zombie Movie Hysteria' fund and help put an end to this malady? After all, a Scott is a terrible thing to waste.

Remember to just say 'No' to nazi zombie movies, or this could happen to you:

It's not pretty, is it?

If nothing else it's worth the watch for Peter Cushing and John Carradine, not to mention the cool looking zombies. I hope you like it. I did.

Now that I look at the storyline it was really "convoluted" Skaboi. Didn't even realize it even after posting it. Guess that is part of why I really like dubbed and even subtitled Euro-Horror and Sci-Fi. Great stuff.

Someone at Horrorseek.com did their homework on this movie if your interested. Overall I'm not a big fan of the site, but this page is interesting for anyone who's seen Oasis.

I HATE HIS MOVIE SO MUCH! I FELL ASLEEP 20 MINUTES INTO IT AND WOKE UP WITH A HANGOVER. AND I DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL!

THE ONLY REASON I BOUGHT THE DVD WAS BECAUSE I THOUGHT ZOMBIE LAKE WAS FUNNY AND WAS FULL OF NUDITY. OASIS LACKED ANYTHING.

I SPIT ON JESS FRANCO'S FACE
