From the CNN site:

Maybe this has come up before but I haven't seen the thread.

My questions about this:

Does he get to wear the stupid hat?

Will it have cheesy atmospherics and even cheeser creatures?

They are probably going to serious it all up and it will not be nearly as charming as the original.

Trek,
I bet the cheesiness will be gone for sure.  Also He'll be some unshaven square jawed hero type, or pretty boy.   Not rumpled middled aged guy.   Add in CGI demons and we've got it.
GREAT, no I'm all depressed.  whimper whimper.

The one thing I hope is gone is that "easy listening" theme music. The whistle part at the begining was cool, but the rest of it was wrong for the tone of the show.

Title: I've seen the promo reel for the show!

And it looks worse than expected!

One of the benefits of working at an ABC affiliate TV station is that I got my hands on a video of the ABC fall season announcement dog and pony show they put on this Tuesday, and one of the things on the tape is a two minute promo reel for their new NIGHT STALKER. That two minute teaser was more than enough to know they've gone about it all wrong. It looks like they've eliminated all the sardonic humor and turned it into the kind of "X-Files" knock-off that would have premiered and been quickly cancelled about six or seven years ago. I wrote a story about for Dread Central complete with some stills I nabbed from the promo reel. Click below and prepare to be depressed.

From the looks of this teaser not only does the show appear to be the kind of "X-Files" knock-off that would have premiered and been quickly cancelled about six or seven years ago, the character of Carl Kolchak appears to have been completely made over into a constantly brooding, intense staring, soft-spoken, sullen, humorless individual, which is only fitting, I guess, since the look and tone of the series appears to be equally dark and humorless.
