where's Howard the Duck or Clark Griswald? I'm at work so i haven't had time to really look over the list but here are my favorites:
1. Ming "Flash Gordon"
2. Fisherman from "Jaws" - forgot his name
3. Godzirra!
4. Hannibal Lector
5. Jules "Pulp Fiction"
I'll have to give it more thought for the most obscure roles, sometimes it's not the main character that is most memorable nor is it a big movie
Dil from the Crying Game? ? c'mon folks
No way Darth Vader is #84. He's become an icon in America and certainly is a better character than Annie Hall.
I would have to say that this list probably isn't supposed to be in any specific order, though I could be wrong.
Although I was glad to see Harry Calahan and Max Rockatansky on the list, I would also have added Snake Plisken from Escape From NY as well as Josey Wales and perhaps even the Predator.
Wow... That's actually a pretty agreeable list. Nice balance of older and newer films, and bonus points for including The Dude. Only ones I can really think to add are Pee-Wee Herman and Ash.
Yeah, there were some omissions, and perhaps one or two of the movies might have had a better character than the one named, but this list is surprisingly good. I was thinking "oh, good God" when I saw the title, but it's not bad, assuming it's in no particular order.
I was really impressed that they included Carl Spackler from Caddyshack, among others.
Yeah this list is better than the one I posted awhile ago about the 50 movie actors from Preimer.

I wish they had only listed characters which originated in films, not from other sources like plays or novels. I am glad to see J.J. Hunsenker from Sweet Smell of Success .
I agree with Susan, Clark W. Griswald needed a spot. My biggest gripe though is that Gollum makes the Top 10, yet no Yoda at all. Double you Tea Ef?!
Also, Bonnie Parker was a REAL person. You know they could have went through Cecil B. DeMille's movies (Moses, Samson, Jesus, Cleopatra, Wild Bill Hickock) and Oliver Stone's movies (Alexander the great, Richard Nixon, Jim Morrison) and found several "characters."
Hey, no Leatherface?
Yeah, I was noticing that a lot of the characters were literary in origin, and a couple of them, like Parker, were real people.
I suppose that's to be expected, since good characterization is so much more important in a good novel. I tend to agree with including them as movie characters, since the actor, director, screenwriter, and others had a hand in bringing the character to the screen. I don't imagine it's easy to do a good job of that.
Marge Gunderson (Fargo) had what goes down in history as one of the most memorable one-liners I've ever heard, viz:
"I guess that was your accomplice in the wood chipper?"
Ok, replace lloyd dobler from 'Say anything" with Cusacks role in "Better off dead"
They need to remove mary poppins and replace with Faye Dunnaway from Mommie Dearest
'HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU CHRISTINA...NOOOO WIRE HANGERS....EVER!!! CHRISTINA GET OUTTA THAT BED!"

Sorry, but for me that's a must have on the list
Great BadMovie Characters?
1. Akton in Starcrash
2. The dark bounty hunter in Shaolin Master and the Kid
3. Eunice in Troll 1
4. Grindel in Troll 3
Like all such lists from "Premier Magazine," easy enough to do. Even taking into account how many of Bogart's characters already appear there, why is Katherine Hepburn's character from "The African Queen" there and not Humphrey Bogart's?
And having seen 41 of the films and liking 28 of them, why is Jeff Spicoli's from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" so high, and why is Darth Vader's from "Star Wars" so low? And, Ethan Edwards from "The Searchers" is a John Wayne character. Though, if I had to pick a John Wayne character, I would have picked Rooster Cogburn from "True Grit." As Ethan Edwards was a one-shot deal, and Rooster Cogburn spawned a sequel and a made for TV movie.
No, my main complaint with the list, is that I don't really have any empathy with any of the characters on it. However great they may be. Instead, I would pick characters with which I had some empathy.
Kevin, the boy scout in "Lair of the White Worm."
Kurt Kelly in "Heathers"
Scott Wormer in "Now and Then"
Bruton, the Iguandon in "Dinosaurs"
"Evil Ed" Thompson in "Fright Night"
Thomas d'Apcher in "Brotherhood of the Wolf"
Nlow, those are characters for which I can feel some empathy.
