Hey guys, put your Toxic Avengers and Ricky-Ohs aside for a moment and check this gem out. I was at BestBuy a couple of months ago and saw one of those crappy DVD sets called "Kungfu Wars." I bought it because A) it was only like seven bucks, and B), it had "The Crippled Masters" on it, which is a cool movie. But the movie on in this set that is truly the shining point is "Ninja Turf" (formerly known as "LA Kickboxer"), directed by Richard Park. My god, this movie is simultaneously the worst movie ever made and the greatest movie EVAR!!! It's basically about rival groups of high school gangs (played by 40+ year old guys), who fight one another, etc. It stars such "legends" as Phil Rhee, Jun Chong, Bill Wallace, James Lew, and Loren Avadon. Some hilarious scenes include Jun Chong, apparently just getting home from grocery shopping, approaching a guy showering naked, hands him a banana, and in s**tty dubbing says, "hey tony, bring you something to eat?" Another great scene is a showdown between the good gang (led by swaggering Jun Chong), and another gang led by Belly Shirt Guy (and apparently one of the guys in his gang is Biff from Back to the Future lol). In this scene one of the most badass 80s action movie moments occur: When approached by Belly Shirt and his gang, Chong kicks the trunk of his car, making if fly open, and all of his homies grab a bunch of wooden swords and get into Power Ranger poses and then proceed to break open broom sticks, erm, I mean, arms... Also there's Jun Chong's nonsensical battle cry, "Huh, Chuno! C'mon *lifts finger* C'mon!" and proceeds to take out Panama Jack and his army of disenfranchised illegal aliens. Hey, this flick is so bad/interesting, I wrote about it in my Film Criticism class! Check this movie out guys, I promise you wont be disapointed.
