Ok so I was obsessing over a few trailers just then and was watching the new/newish Charlie and the Chocolate Factory trailer:
New Trailer: Watch it now! (http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/charliechocolatefactory/medium.html)
I just noticed something that sort of peaked my attention: the elevator. I don't really want to be held responsible for ruining things so if you are a bit uptight about what is going to happen in a movie and I happen to be onto something [doubtful, but I should warn nonetheless] I suggest you ignore this like I have ignored all info to do with Sin City [which still isn't out here yet dammit!]
Now to those who have read the books will note that this is something that comes up in Roald Dahl's sequel. I just thought I'd point it out because in my current state of mind, this is absolutely mind-crazing! [did I mention I'm being fascinated by relatively small things at the moment?]
Does this mean they are setting up for a sequel? I'd say possibly, but I couldn't help but notice in one shot, the elevator is going down instead of up, and therefore: on the return trip home. Maybe for once a sequel will break significant new ground plot wise instead of rehashing the same old tricks!
Ok, so this post is kinda the result of my severe lack of sleep at the moment, but I find this to be quite fascinating!
To those who have watched the trailer/read the books/is just bored and looking for something to do, what do you think?
Since this is in my top five [or so] must see films this year, I'm quite interested [you noticed??] and see this as an interesting development.
Doesn't seem to be THAT big of a deal or particularly ground-breaking/interesting at all. Depending on what that shot of the elevator going down is, there's a part near the end of the book where the elevator crashes through the roof of Charlie's home, they wheel the bed in which Charlie's other invalid elderly relatives are in into the elevator, and it takes off back for the factory. Don't forget that the elevator, according to the book, doesn't just go up and down, it also goes sideways, diagonally, and every which way but loose (according to Wonka himself).
Then again, as far as sequels go....Yes, it obviously could also be a lead-in to the Dahl sequel which was "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator".
Methinks you're getting overworked over something rather insignificant.

Yeah, like I said, my lack of sleep and my over-enthused brain led me to think that this was the next big thing since sliced bread, but now that I have had sleep I realise the error of my ways!

I forgot about that as well, thanks for pointing that out! Still, a sequel would be nice: I didn't mind the second book, and would be suitably nutty for Tim Burton [although I suspect that it would be far apart from 'the chocolate factory']
