Title: Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957)
Post by: Scott on June 14, 2005, 11:33:56 PM
ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS (1957) - Found this long anticipated film directed by Roger Corman. This is one of his better creature features as the 2nd Scientific Expedition arrives on an island after some atomic testing near the South Seas Island. The first expidition is missing without a trance. Guess who comes along for the ride? Russel Johnson who played the professor on GULLIGANS ISLAND. I guess after doing this movie he became type-cast as being a guy stuck on an island. : ) (Well, maybe not...........) Anyway the Island radiation has caused the crabs to grow and develope ways to speak kinda telepathic in the human voices of the crabs victims . The film is bearable at 66 minutes in length. This film was on my to view list for many years after seeing some clips on the review page here at badmovies.org.

Check out Andrews Review of   ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/crabmonsters/index.html)

The best scene in the movie was the one image of the guy with no hand being attacked by the giant claw. He lost his hand during a cave collapse.

Mind reading, soul-absorbing, human-eating crustaceans:  Does it get any better?

There does seem something professorial about Russell Johnson. He also played a professor in 1955 in "This Island Earth."
