Has anyone heard of a script that has been floating around Hollywood since the early 80's about an overweight Eskimo man that has YET to be made into a film? If memory serves, the name of the script was "Atuck the Eskimo". I am probably wrong about the exact title, and have also probably mispelled the main character's name. The supposed reason that this project has never born fruit is that all of the heavy-set actors that have read the script have died tragically BEFORE the movie could be filmed. The list includes John Belushi,Sam Kinison,John Candy, and Chris Farley. I saw a documentary on the "A and E" channel that said they even got as far as filming a few day's worth of footage with Kinison, but for a variety of reasons, they never finished the project. Many people believe that the script itself was cursed, and whoever reads it dies tragically.
I have looked online for the longest time trying to find a website or at least a forum that acknowledges this bizarre "real-life" event, and have found nothing. Has anybody heard of this thing? Does anybody have links to websites that talk about it? Is this just another phony story created by tabloid writers, or just another weird Hollywood urban legend?
Sincerely,Steve.
P.S. If this is a "true tale", I wonder if John Goodman has read the script? LOL!
By the title i thought this was going to be about "THE OMEN"
maybe they need to stop offering the movie to obese cocaine addicts? ;-)
Until you brought it up, nope never heard of it,.
I've heard of this. Don't remember the name of the script though. I'm not really a superstious person but that is one hell of a coincidence(assuming all of them actually have read that script). Hopefully that script has been burned into ash. There's enough curses going around.
I've heard of this story as well, from some tv-show like 'Unsolves Mysteries' or something like that. I found it to be quite odd.
Sounded interesting. I found this - looks like it was on last Halloween.
"On Friday, October 30 at 9:00 PM ET/9:00 PM PT AMC will premiere "Hollywood Ghost Stories," a one-hour mystery tour revealing the truth behind the ghostly side of Hollywood hosted by "Star Trek" legend, William Shatner. The special chronicles the mansions, studios, theaters and even a car reportedly haunted by the spirits of stars like Jayne Mansfield, Lawrence Harvey and James Dean. The show includes interviews with comedian Flip Wilson and actress Elke Sommers (stars who live in haunted homes!) and a host of experts including parapsychologist Dr. Larry Montz, celebrity real estate agent Elaine Young and the "world's only ghost-busting twins," Linda and Terry Jamison. "Hollywood Ghost Stories" also reveals, for the first time, the legend of the "killer script" for the still-unmade comedy "ATUK," one that was being considered for John Belushi, Sam Kinnison, John Candy and Chris Farley at the time of their untimely deaths."
