Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that Oldboy will finally make it here to the states on the 23rd of next month on DVD. For anyone who hasn't seen the film (or even heard of it), buy it anyway. It's one of the finest flicks to come out in the past ten years.
The film is about Oh Daesu, a Korean businessman. One day, he is kidnapped and put in a small hotel like room and is left there for 15 years without any explanation nor human contact. While he is in there, his wife is murdered and the police think he killed her and fled. After 15 years, he is released into the world with some cash and a cellphone. He then goes on a mission to find out who imprisoned him and who killed his wife.
I know the film may sound like a normal revenge film, but it's not in any way. Oh Daesu is probably one of the most ruthless characters ever to grace a film, and the story stays fresh with twists throughout.
I'm telling you guys, you really need to pick up this DVD. I bought a copy from Ebay for about 25.00 last year, and I couldn't be happier. Deepdiscountdvd.com has the new Region 1 for only 14.00 w/ no shipping.
Just trust me on this, it's an amazing film.

Oldboy is a truely great film. I don't know if I will buy it though, as it isn't the kind of movie I feel the need to watch on even a semi-regular basis (much like the Godfather, the closest a film has come to perfection).
I haven't seen this movie yet, but I've got this on my Amazon wishlist. I figure it'll be easier to buy this one instead of trying to rent it anywhere. And besides, everyone is giving it such high reviews, I doubt it's possible that I won't like it.
