Title: Parts: The Island Box Office Nightmare
Post by: nobody on July 24, 2005, 06:13:13 PM
Did anyone else see the box office estimates today? It looks like "The Island" only made 12 mill. In other good news, "The Bad News Bears" only made 11.5 mill. And, no surprise, "The Devil's Rejects" only made 7 mill. Oops!

I had a feeling this was going to be a weak weekend. "The Island" didn't look to appealing and I saw Devils Rejects which I did like more that House of 1000 corpses but I knew that I was not going to be a box office hit.

How's Land of the Dead doing? Is that still in theaters?

I think Land of the Dead is either gone or hanging on precariously in a few dollar theaters. A pity too because it was a great movie (compared to a lot of the other films recently released.). Expect it on DVD within the next two months with a lot of cool extras. I know I'm buying it!

Anyone manage to catch "Undead" during it's very small U.S. theatrical release?

I have Undead on Booleg DVD awhile before it came to thearters Maximus. I didn't like it to much so I didn't bother to see it in thearters.

The Island, despite being a Michael Bay flick actually had a LOT of good reviews before the film was released.  Overall, it's supposed to be pretty good.  Could it be that people are finally sick of bang-boom action flicks?

If the film is as good as most people think, then the flick might pick up momentum as the weeks go by.  Word of mouth has done wonders for films in the past.  I have a feeling the same thing will happen for Devil's Rejects.  If you remember correctly, House of 1k Corpses started very slowly but word of mouth skyrocketed it.

I have a feeling that The Island will eventually break even but I doubt anyone will make any money off of the picture.

Yup Land finished its theatrical run, it made 20 mill. Not bad considering it only cost 17 to make. It'll make its real profit on dvd.

HA! I just caught Land of the Dead last night. It's still around over here at the dollar fifty theater. It was good one by the way me and my brother liked it.

Funny enough I just got it on DVD a few hours ago.  I've seen it before, but I've been consolidating my DVD collection recently!  I enjoyed it, although I've seen more enjoyable Zombie flicks, but considering how much it was made for and the fact that it's Aussie, I thought I'd give it my support!

Land of the Dead and The Island aren't out yet here, The Island is out this week, not sure about Land of the Dead though.  I'm vaguely interested in the Island since I'm a fan of sci fi conspiracy movies, even if it is Michael Bay!  Of course, Land of the Dead is on my 'must-see immediatley' list.

Any MST3k fans notice how much "The Island" resembles "Parts: The Clonus Horror"?

The marketing was horrible. In general, I sort of knew that a cloning sci-fi was coming out, but every time I saw "The Island" on a theater sign, I had no idea that it was the movie.

Every time I'd think, "That movie with leonardo dicaprio is out again?" (The Beach?).
