Title: Hammer's House of Horror?
Post by: Newt on July 25, 2005, 09:17:37 AM
Found the boxed set on sale - do I want it?  Please tell me if it is a 'must have' - have not seen the series, but loved the older Hammer stuff.

Thanks!

I saw some episodes when I was a child. Worth having, it is a "Twilight zone" style series, but with more morbid contents. I say go ahead, but you could check the reviews at Amazon before deciding, it could be a decent series in a bad edition, it is been known to happen.

Definitely go for it.  Think of Brian Clemen's 'Thriller' series and you'll have an idea of the approximate time period and feel.  I really liked it when it came on cable TV.  You can see many British TV actors from the old days of The Saint, The Persuaders, Blake's 7 and all the rest there.  Lots of fun.  The British boxset is quite good in terms of transfer.

And by the way: in some episodes, the bad guys win.  (evil grin)

There's a synopsis of the series and reviews of all the episodes on my site here:
