Title: Peter Jackson Producing Halo!
Post by: Ash on October 06, 2005, 02:00:08 AM
Oh yeah!
This is really gonna be good now that Jackson and his wife, Fran Walsh are executive producing.
Best news of all?  Uwe Boll and Paul W.S. Anderson aren't gonna get within a thousand miles of this project to screw it up!

What do you think?

Well miracles do happen...

Haven't really played the game much to be all crazy about this news, but I liked the basic storyline that I do know.  Nothing particularly original but I'm always open to new big budget Sci Fi films, especially ones of the alien invasion type, so it should be fun!

All in all, I'm happy for the news, but not particularly jumping up and down in excitement, after all, the games sold so incredibly well that it was bound to happen eventually, and I'd like to think that the studios are smart enough not to give Anderson and Boll this one.

I dunno...I think Boll could've added quite some flavor to this one. I like his movies, the man makes me laugh.

*yawn*

See, I didn't care for Halo that much.  It wasn't a very good game.  The story was contrived/cliched to say the least and the gameplay wasn't anything special.

I'm a huge fan of FPSs and I just didn't like Halo.  The multiplayer portion was decent but there are much better games out there that deserve movies.  I for one will wait till this flick hits cable before I watch it.

I say there needs to be a Red V Blue movie....

Skaboi...have you played Halo 2?
It blows the first one away.

I'll definitely be shelling out the dough for part 3!
And yes, I plan to buy an Xbox 360.

I trust in Jackson & Co. to make a totally kickass film!

Yeah, I'm not even all that familiar with Halo, but if Jackson's involved, the movie will be good.

A video game has as much right to be made into a movie or TV show or what have you than any other source of inspiration.

Quite alot of games nowadays have a very comprehensive storylines and are quite narrative driven.  I mean, some games like the Metal Gear Solid games have a relatively in-depth story line, where you are watching more movies than you are actually playing the game, and this can take more time than the Lord of the Rings trilogy combined, so it's really no surprise that they can make for some really great stories that would be nice to see on the big screen [though the opposite is also true of course]

Though as mentioned previously, the story line for Halo isn't exactly new and original, but is something I'm quite open to in general.

The fact that it's a video game movie is irrelevant in this case. I know nothing about Halo. But, if Peter Jackson is involved in any new film, especially a sci-fi adventure, I'm interested.

And it is kind of interesting that this one is being taken seriously enough that it hasn't been put in the hands of the usual hacks.
