SERENITY (2005) - Good Sci-Fi action film with some fun characters. Enjoyed this film, but it hasn't stuck in my mind like STAR WARS which some reviewers were comparing it to. Check it out I think you'll like it.
STAND BY ME (1986) - Coming of age film by Rob Riener. The film is about four friends who search for the body of a local teen who was hit by a train. The rail bridge scene brought back memories when a group of four of us did the same thing in 1981 in Elmira, N.Y.. The train didn't come, but the police where there to meet us on the other side of the river.

KID BLUE (1973) - Loved this Dennis Hopper film that also stars Warren Oates and Peter Boyle. It's about an outlaw who goes straight. Many great moments in this obscure film.
JUBAL (1956) - Classic Western starring Glenn Ford, Ernest Borgnine, Rod Stieger, Charles Bronson, and even Jack Elam. The whole film is beautifully shot around the Grand Teton area in Wyoming just like SHANE (1953). The story even is similiar in parts with the stranger kinda liking another mans wife. Must viewing for Western fans.

THE CHASE (1966) - Finally saw the end of this film after all these years. Found the beginning boring years ago and just couldn't finish it when playing on cable, but now I've seen the rest which isn't bad. It has some good actors and look, but the whole subject of Southerners in the 60's type drama didn't appeal to me. Marlon Brando is the only reason I finished this film.
THE LEGEND 2 (1993) - Was only able to see the first half of this fun Jet Li film that had all kinds of Kung Fu stuff. Especially liked Li's characters mother. The movie has all the elements of your favorite Kung Fu movies. It's like a light version of KUNG FU HUSTLE (2005)
MARIA FULL OF GRACE (2004) - Wow, very strong film about a 17 year old girl who gets pregnant and quits her flower job in Columbia and enters the world of drug trafficing which turns out tragic. The film really shows the whole process of how they smuggle this stuff into the U.S. by swallowing the junk only to retrieve it later in a New York motel. One of the girls she knows dies when one of the bags open up inside her during the trip and the thugs have to remove the stuff from her intestines. Riviting film that you won't be able to stop watching.

You need to see the Firefly television series if you liked Serenity.
Is this the first time you've seen Stand by Me?
Maria Full of grace was awesome.
First time I have seen STAND BY ME Trek Geezer. Good film. We crossed a railroad bridge about as long when I was 17 years old. No place to escape if a train came and it was way above the river. It was really dumb and the police took all of our names when we got to the other side where they were waiting for us.
Trek Geezer check out KID BLUE is a really good Western that is playing on Encore Western Channel this month. JUBAL is also playing on Encore.
Lester 1/2 MARIA FULL OF GRACE is something else and all true happenings.
Wow I havn't seen Stand by Me but I have read the Stephen King book. and I never knew Stand by Me was adapted from that book (I can't remember the book's name)
I remember liking the story because it's like a small adventure for young boys. They explore the forest outside of their city, it's got a "back then" feel to it. I kinda wish I had gone on adventures like this ,well not ones where I want to see a dead body nor end with me and the gang getting kidnapped by some thugs.
I saw the Legend movies a few years ago I remember liking them. If they did a third one I the finally battle would have gone in the same tradition as the first two.
*spoilers for the Legend Movies*
1) Jet Li character fights main bad guy straight out somewhere in the begining or middle of the movie.
2) Bad guy kidnaps somebody that Jet Li character cares about (example Mom or Dad)
3) Jet Li goes back to confornt villain.
4) Villain has prison in some sort of killing device (gullioten or noose) and Jet has to fight the villian while jumping back and try to help the kidnapped person from dying.
*end of spoilers*
Yeah I liked that about the two Legend movies, a nice twist to the end fight.
I thought the older female star (mother) was exceptional on the screen. Good actress.

Dave,
The book you are thinking of that had Stand By Me in it was "Different Seasons", an anthology book by King.
Stand By Me is a bit of a special movie for me. It's one that I've loved all of these years growing up. It's a flick that I can't help but catch every single time it comes on.
Thanks for the name of that book, it was bothering me also as I knew I read it. Was that the one with "Apt Pupil" also? It was the book that came with different color covers too, I think. I don't know, that was many years ago for me.
Odinn7,
Yep, it's the same book with Apt Pupil in it. Actually quite a good book now that I think about it. I wouldn't mind reading it over again...need to find it.
APT PUPIL was also a good film. Different....................
"Jubal" Think of it as one of the first psychological westerns, but no less enjoyable for that.
