Title: OT: Uwe Boll's Next: POSTAL
Post by: Mr_Vindictive on October 25, 2005, 11:50:24 AM
Seems that Uwe Boll has set his eyes on Running With Scissor's highly controversial Postal series as the next game he will ruin by turning into a film.

I've never really cared for the Postal series.  The original was decent, and I'm not quite sure why it got as much controversy as it did.  Postal 2 was marginally better, and lived up to the hype.  Killing random citizens, decapitating them, and then being able to urniate on their bodies.  About the only fun piece of the game was being able to cover a marching band with gasoline and throw a match.

Anyway, this might be a good pairing up.  A violent game with little story, and a director with little intelligence whom fanboys act violently toward.

I find it interesting that he plans to make a film based on a game whose popularity is centered around the crazy stuff you can do in the gameplay!!

One would think that logically, making a video game film would require that there be some sort of plot before hand/style that made it suit the big screen.  Even Super Mario Bros had a simple plot, and its popularity made the idea of doing a film with those characters, even in such a crazy way, was a possibility.

Actually, now that I pause and think about it, this may actually be something that could work.  I must admit that I hate Boll for what he is doing to many Video Game films, but I have to say that maybe this is the way for Boll to make it work.  Maybe...

Perhaps they should do a PAC-MAN movie!

Sure. For some reason, I see Jason Alexander as Pac Man.

Not such a far-fetched idea, when you consider the Saturday morning cartoon shows that were based on simple platform and maze games in the early 80s. I mean, they managed to make a series out of stuff like Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Frogger. Not that it worked all that well, but they did it.

Funny, I'm no fan of today's video games. I've played very few of them, but what Boll does still p**ses me off. Maybe it's because he personifies all that is most wrong with the movie business today. Maybe it's because I have little patience for people like him. I don't know.

The one plus is that I had for years thought it was no longer possible to make a bad movie, at least not the theatrical kind. I mean, there's lots of mediocrity out there, but very little out and out crap of the sort that fascinates people like us. Boll has proven that crap finds a way. I've no doubt that with proper aging, his movies will take on a sort of legendary bad status, and if they are all just a tax dodge, that will only add to the legend.

For the present, the man is a menace.

Hehe, Pac Man movie...

Sounds like fun!  But the idea of a Pac-Man movie is not really that new:

Pac Man MUST have a budget of no less than a $250 million in order to succeed. Those little white balls are going to cost a fortune.

Seriously, I bet they turn it into some type of maze story where Mr. Pac Man has to rescue Mrs. Pac Man and save his children from the game master who controls the gate that lets out the ghosties.

Yeah, well, Pac Man might not have what it takes. But Donkey Kong - now there's blockbuster material! Imagine the climactic moment when the drooling CGI ape finds an excuse to carry Pauline up some open, multilevel truss-type structure that was conveniently built for some reason. Maybe it could be built on an island! And Donkey Kong could start kidnapping more girls toward the climax, to build tension. Mario would, of course, need special powers and equipment. Instead of jumping barrels, he could blow them up with a bazooka. And it would all lead up to a huge Matrix-style gun battle. Oh, and we'd see Pauline's tits. Maybe Donkey Kong could even have his way with her at some point. Now, that's a movie that follows all the basic rules of storytelling.

Pac Man? Pshaw!

" Oh, and we'd see Pauline's tits."

I like that idea AndyC...now, what do you think is the possibility of getting Kate Beckinsale to play the part of Pauline?

I imagine that the Pac Man movie will be all CGI animated.
How the heck could they pull of a live action version?

Some chubby balding guy in a large yellow spherical costume wearing little yellow stockings and black booties. He's got on a yellow swimmers cap and black rimmed glasses (of course), and he waddles. I can see it now (holds hands up like a director's)-- Pac Man is actually a secret weapon designed by the government to counteract the evil forces of a rogue country. His special powers are already laid out for us-- it's the large dots! Perfect for Boll. And Ms. Pac Man can be shown breast feeding tiny dots from her bossom to her kids. And Pac Man has a radar system so he can see from a 2-D perspective on top of the map. The ghosties carry AK-47's because they come from a rogue nation and they now have special powers where they can jump in bullet-time over walls. We'll treat Pac Man's transformations like Ang Lee did to The Hulk's and have him suddenly start breaking down walls and other stuff. By the end of the movie, everything is trashed, Ms. Pac Man's outfit has been stripped down to shreds exposing as much as possible for an PG-13 rating in America, and Pac Man and Ms. Pac man finally get married so she can legally become a ciizen of the world and change her name to Mrs.

Don't forget...it will need to be on an island somewhere.

Exactly! That's why I was thinking of Jason Alexander.

Either that, or it could be done as a Will Ferrell comedy.

I like it. I'd been thinking along the lines of Jessica Simpson, but that's much better. Now, who to play Mario? Has to be young, good looking and completely without talent. Hmmmm. Too many choices.

I read this earlier today. I was going to create a whole new post to goof on it, but you've already beaten me to the punch. This movie will BOMB with a capital Boll!
