Guess the Tingler and 13 Ghosts DVDs were successful; I just read that three more William Castle DVDs (Homicidal, Strait-Jacket, and Mr. Sardonicus) are coming this March. Apparently they'll all have trailers and featurettes, though no word yet on cardboard axes with Strait Jacket or an alternate ending with Sardonicus (the gimmick with that was that the audience got to vote whether the villain lived or died, but there seems to be some debate as to whether the "thumbs up" ending was even filmed). I'll definitely at least get Homicidal; In addition to having seen it on TV when I was twelve, it has the single best trailer I've ever seen (Castle says nonchalantly into the camera "Please do not reveal the secret ending of Homicidal to your friends... Or they will kill you. And if they don't, I will.")
I finally purchased the "13 Ghosts" DVD and, even though the "IllusionO" doesn't work quite right, I enjoyed seeing the film again. Heck, I never have seen it in a theater on 35mm, but remember watching it on Saturday's "Double Creature Feature."
Oh yeah, on a B&W set at that.

Castle's stuff is great fun! I saw most of them in theaters first-run, as a kid. I just wish they'd put out ZOTZ! on DVD. I carried my little ZOTZ coin (the giveaway gimmcik for the film) for weeks, pretending I could hold it, point at something/someone I didn't like, say "Zotz!" and make it/them go up in a puff of smoke! Muahahahaaa! };)
