1. Roadhouse - classic 80's, swayze cheese. surprisingly pretty violent, got this because Mike Neilson recommended it.
2. Race With the Devil - really cool, mid 70's creeper with Peter Fonda. a group of common joes fight satanic stalkers with various weapons and yes: a winnebago.
3. Karate Bullfighter, Karate Bearfighter, and Karate for Life - all 3 Sonny Chiba classics based on a real Japanese Karate legend who legend has is it did kill a bear with his bare hands. overall some great fight scenes and classic Chibaness.

Chopper where did you come across RACE WITH THE DEVIL? Been wanting to see that one.
I've also had a couple recent veiwing, but they are ones that I've already saw before like PORK CHOP HILL and THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE UGLY.
Other than that I've watched a few more 30 minute stand up comidians on HBO and watched NO DOUBT in concert. Gwen Stafani is a natural on stage.

Scott, recently Race with the Devil has been re-released on DVD! So I picked my copy up off of Netflix. let me know what you find, the transfer was beautiful by the way.
Race with the Devil has been rereleased on DVD due to the fact that Drew McSweeny from that hugemoviereviewwebsitethatshallnotbenamed is rewriting the film. If I'm not mistaken, it's currently filming.
What did you think of Jarhead, Chopper? I was pretty impressed overall, and I'm quite curious as to how everyone else feels about it.
RACE WITH THE DEVIL is one of my "guilty pleasures." I saw it during its original theatrical run and I bought the DVD when it was released a few months ago. Some parts of it are pretty silly, but it's a very watchable movie, it has a great cast, and I love the ending.

overall i really liked Jarhead. i've been reading about how a lot of people felt it delved into very political territory on desert storm and the current war but honestly i feel that 3 Kings was more political in nature and that Jarhead was kind of a more personal account of one man's experiences of being a marine and going through that time period. less political commentary but also the script allowed more freedom to dive into the psyches of the men and their struggles.
but of course this is only my perception, some people can find existencial meaning in bambi.

Recently rewatched The Stuff. I didn't realize it was Larry Cohen film until this time around. I really enjoyed it much more than I ever have before because I got to appreciate the marketing of the product in the movie on a different level. The movie spends an indelible amount of time showcasing the new marketing and advertising slogans and schemes for The Stuff, and I feel that Cohen was trying to make a statement on the situation of the 1980's demand for more and more of a material lifestyle. If you recall, the movie's main characters all come from yuppie backgrounds, and it's these people who are first absorbed by The Stuff. The kid's parents in their middle class home, and the company executives who get fat and rich on this new product people can't get enough of. I enjoyed this aspect of the movie.
Also rewatched A Clockwork Orange and TheShining just to refamiliarize myself with Stanley Kubrick. I enjoyed them as much now as I did the first time.
