Title: Movie Title Help Needed
Post by: Derf on November 17, 2005, 10:42:28 AM
A number of years ago, I saw a movie on one of the pay channels that was more notable for its scene direction than its plot or characters. The gimmick of the film was that there was a number in each scene, in order, from 1 to 100 (I think). When the movie reaches 100, someone dies. I thought the title was something along the lines of Death by Numbers, but I don't find that title on IMDB, and I'm having some trouble finding it through the plot search feature.

So does anyone remember this movie?

Sorry to respond to my own topic, but I think I misremembered the movie. No one dies; the movie simply ends when the count reaches 100. I think it's a British film.

Never mind--I found it: Drowning by Numbers (1988).

From IMDB:

Tired of her husband's philanderous ways, the mother of two daughters drowns her husband. With the reluctant help of the local coroner, the murder is obscured. Her daughters are having similar problems with relationships, and tend to follow their mother's example, and the coroner becomes reluctantly duplicitous. As the plot progresses, visual and spoken numbers appear in the scenes, counting from one to 100.
