Title: OT: Wish me luck.
Post by: daveblackeye15 on December 04, 2005, 08:28:49 PM
Hello all.

Last weekend I believe I went a rampage posting here. Well I havn't posted at all for a week because that was the dreaded week before finals. I've been studying last week and this weekend for this week's end tests.

Tommorow I have my Cooking and my Sanitation finals. And those are the two that I'm rather worried about. I don't believe I'll fail if I flunk this and I doubt I will but none the less I like to be safe.

And I wish all other students that come here a good luck on their finals.

But after next week I'll be back and posting more because it'll be Winter Break time!

Good luck dave!!!

I can relate to the dread; I get my final results on thursday, so I'm kind of nervous myself [after this I'm finished at Uni, provided everything checks out ok!] so I can relate to a bit of the jitters, though mine is the worried, waiting type, you still have to go and kick some butt [which I'm sure you will]

Good luck and have a good one!

Y'know what. I don't have the jitters. I hope that's confendience and not just stupidity. Still I'm re studying all of the sauces.

And thank you Dean and Skaboi. Good luck to you Dean.

I'm getting ready to kick ass!

I have three tests tomorrow, and then two the week after that.  Physics, Spanish and a class I like to call Death and Dying in Cross-Cultural Perspective.  I'm not worried because I'm Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius.

Good luck with your tests though.  My old roommate graduated from culinary school.

Winter break will be nice.  The constant threat of school work will no longer loom above.  I plan to spend some serious time with some video games and the Criterion collection.

Now that's a good break!  Provided I pass everything, I don't have the 'threat' of school work to worry about ever again, only the threat of full time work, but I'm embarking on a few personal projects before that happens [the whole T-shirts thing was just stage one] so it should be a great summer for me!

A sauce study guide? Hmmm...

I'm finalizing two stories I wrote for an English class, and preparing myself for a Woody Allen monologue I have to give in front of a Theater class. I'm ether doing The Moose sketch, or the entire opening five minutes of Annie Hall. It's a toss up, but I think I'll go with the moose. Funny stuff- check it out here:

Good luck on exams, Dave. If you happen to be in western North Carolina in two weeks, a group of us are going to visit our film teacher's studio space in the Blue Ridge Motion Pictures Studio. Check it out on the web at:

Does this count as a....... VACATION? (http://www.websmileys.com/sm/evil/676.gif)

And now for a little limerick

Dave went to school to take a test
Despite Menard being such a pest
He brushed up on sauces
To avoid any losses
And now he will prove he is the best

Success be yours Dave (http://www.smileys.ws/smls/grinning/00000003.gif)

Good luck Dave and the same to Scottie and Dean.

Dave does this mean you're cooking for the Badmovies.org convention?

I've been wondering when that is being held.

I don't think I'll be cooking at a convenction.

I think I did alright on my Cooking and my Sanitation tests. Tommorow we have to go in and clean up the kitchen, Wednesday is my mangement test and that's one I need to study, I have to brush up on math but we're allowed to have past tests  and notes for those. And Friday is just a video presentation.

Great news Dave, really.

I have one question: what is sanitation and safety? You go around picking up people's garbage while wearing safety goggles?

Maybe it means that Dave didn't drop the food in the floor and have to resort to the 5 second rule. (http://www.smileys.ws/smls/grinning/00000021.gif)

Odinn7 there is no 5 second rule, it goes in the trash.

In case your question was serious then I'll answer it seriously. What we studied was proper methods of cleaning your equpiment, such as you definatly want to wash, rinse, and sanitize your cutting board after cutting up chicken if your going to cut up something new like vegtables. We learned about a crap load of microrganisms and deseases. In fact I think I now have an idea what gave this horrible sickness last year. We learned about accepting food develieres, temperature danger zone, internal cooking tempeartues. And so much more!

Look at my wealth of knowelege!

Kickass!!  Hope it all goes well dave!  What a knowledgeable lad you have become!

I've just got my results back for my course, and I've done fine, so now I guess I'm an Arts graduate [somebody give me a job please now!]

That's pretty darn scary/exciting!

Congratulations!  Always good to see somebody get out of school alive.

Nice one Dean!

I was often conflicting between going for art or for cooking. When the school that I might have gone to art for turned me down then it was cooking.

I hope you get a job where you can use your new skills.

New skills my behind!!  For those who don't know, 'Arts' isn't painting and whatnot, but humanities subjects like English, History, Politics, Classics etc.  I majored in History and Cinema Studies, not practical cinema mind you, but theoretical.  That is, I didn't make films, or learn how to make them, but studied the crap outta them [film theory is really interesting by the by]

It's a long standing joke that the Bachelor of Arts stands for, amongst other things, a Bachelor of Attendance [you just have to show up], and that there is not straight career path from it, but many branching areas.  I guess it's up to me to figure that part out properly [but I'm happy to celebrate now and worry later] Though I do have my own ambitions, problem is the film industry is a pretty tough biz, especially here [where there's not as much going on.]  But that's the fun in finding out!

Luck to those who are still studying!

Oh and Dave, if you are good at/enjoy doing art, why not enter or collaborate on a cult movie poster for the competition in that thread I started recently? Could be a way to have a bit of fun after all the study is over!

Oops sorry, I misunderstood what you meant by arts. I am familiar with THOSE arts though. My mistake. I may or I may not submit something. I dunno I'll think about it.
