This could inspire another new SciFi original movie. Sounds kinda scary actually.
Rat brain learns to fly (http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/12/06/1102182227308.html)
Yeah, this sounds like a good idea.
Don't these a-holes watch movies? Ever hear of a self-aware computer? I'm only half joking here...imagine the implications of this if it ever came to pass. I can see groups coming out for "Living Computers" have rights too.
"Damn, my computer is outdated...I think I'll junk it and get a new one."
"You can't just junk that computer, it's alive you know."
I can see it all now.
This is gonna get PETA all upset.
I think this is a bit spookie. odinn7 has the right idea about the movie stuff. By the time my kids are grown up computers are going to take over the world..... eh, let them have it. Its gone to s**t anyway. I will just move to my own little world with my purlpe bunnies, and to hell with these confounded contraptions. :)
For a moment I had the mental image of a brain sitting in a pilot's seat, wired to the controls and zipping through the air.
This is actually pretty interesting.
I like the idea. Now, instead of pilots losing their lives in battle, we can have a few harvested brain cells flying the planes. Sounds like a decent idea to me, although I don't know why they don't just use remotely controlled drones instead.
As for home computers getting living parts; don't bet on it. Home computers will probably be using quantum technology by the time that the living technology experiment will be finished.
"...will probably be using quantum technology..."
Stop it, you're making my brain hurt.

What dosen't get PETA all upset? Oh, wait...any movie where only humans get eaten. So...the ALIEN series must give Ingred Newkirk wet dreams....well, maby...
I can see it now....ROBO-RAT!
Maybe this is the plot to Stealth II? (http://www.smileys.ws/smls/grinning/00000006.gif)

I think a certain contaption invinted by Philo Farnsworth has already taken over the world, we're just to busy staring at it to notice.
Jumping on this thread a little late, but wow, what a hair-brained scheme that is!
Though I'm still waiting for the day our organs and muscles and bones [well pretty much everything really] are replaced by bio-mechanical constructs [to get the girls] and this is but a step in that direction methinks.
A rat-brain powered alarm clock could be a welcome addtion to any household.
This is a potential marketing goldmine, as people clamour for the latest Rat-brain gadget that does the thinking for you...
Some of the idiots I work with would see an improvement if they had rat-brains installed in them.
