Found a neat DVD rental store that has an excellent looking and large Asian Cinema section, but haven't rented from them yet, because they want the first rental to be from a credit card to verify that you card is active. Store policy. Haven't tried it yet. I don't like giving out my credit card especially to a local store that just flew in. I'm sure they are fine and maybe next year I'll join them.
This is it till I can get back to Netflix sometime next year. Netflix has about 200 films that I wouldn't mind looking at.
Scott, there is no doubt in my mind that you are KING of this board. I think you watch more movies in a given time (say a week) than any three of us put together.
(Oh yeah, I MIGHT get to see one per day, but they are usually Hello Kitty, Finding Nemo, The Tigger Movie, etc)

These are imports, so they may or may not be compatable with older US Region1 players, but I haven't had any serious player issues with the Region0 & Region2 DVDs.
As for not wanting to give out your credit card #, Xploited Cinema accepts personal checks & money orders, which is handy for me because I don't have a credit card.

I've tried that with Scott before. He doesn't want to spend the money; he wants to rent them. Who can blame him; with the number of movies he watches in any given month it would take a small fortune to buy them, especially import DVDs.
The lowest price I have found for El Topo, other than searching eBay for a DVD-R copy, is $9.99 on vhs from an Amazon.com seller, which can be found here (http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/ts/exchange-glance/Y01Y5342278Y2705504/102-2922570-0295354).
Here's an idea (probably need to start a new Scott tribute thread for this....heh..heh). Anybody who has a copy of one or more of the rare titles Scott is trying to find, and who has the capability to do such, make a copy on VHS or DVD and send it to Scott. Any takers?
I could swear that I have seen A Town Called Hell on a budget DVD. Like either a dollar DVD or one of these cheap double-feature DVDs. I'll check into that and see what I can find.

I've got a copy of the Red River VHS release of El Topo that I picked up at a swap meet a few years ago. It's pretty low quality & missing a few scenes, and my VCR chewed it up in a couple of places.
Speaking of which, I recall hearing at the Jodorosky forum Yahoo group that Kline & Jodorosky had finally reached a settlement, but I don't recall if there was any word on an official release yet.
Of course, even if there were an official DVD or VHS release, I'm not sure how many stores would actually cary it, considering Brontis spends the first thirty minutes wearing only a hat.
But that's a topic for another thread.
I believe the copies of El Topo they have on Amazon is the Red River distribution, which is the same one I have. It is a little muddy and the sound could be better.

You should be able to use Divx on your PC. Go to the web page, and try it. I downloaded the free version on my crap box laptop, and it worked just fine. Actually any video file player should work. I burn my disks as data files to save a little room. I compress the files with a Divx converter, so they work better on that, but my windows player works also. If you want them to try, I can ship the copies to you. I have a 500 pack of blank disks just sitting around. In a few weeks when my new PC is delivered I will be able to burn DVD in a zone free format. At the moment I have over 200 movies, and TV shows on an external HD.

High Tension - Bought the DVD a couple of weeks ago. Recommended.
Run Lola Run - I've had this in my collection for a few years. Interesting concept, fast paced, and enjoyable.
Saw - I bought the uncut version a few weeks ago. Pretty good, but not great. Has a few nice twists.
Oceans Eleven (the remake) - I like both the original and the remake.
The Train Robbers - I haven't seen this one in about 20 years.
Diobolique - The original, I assume? I have it on DVD and it's great.

Race With the Devil - I have the DVD. One of my "guilty pleasures." I love the ending.
The Hunting Party - I have the DVD. Solid, violent western, but I can see why some people might not like it.

Got the DVD burner working. Let me know if you want these films, they are ones I currently have in my posession. Keep in mind though that my copy of Rejects ia screener DVD and that my copy of High Tension is a Korean cut of the film so it's not uncut.
