Title: BLOODLUST (1959)
Post by: The Burgomaster on December 29, 2005, 07:47:08 AM
Here is another trashy movie that you can find in the HORROR CLASICS 50 MOVIE PACK.  Here is the plot:

4 teenagers on a boat find a mysterious island where the owner enjoys hunting humans and keeping them as trophies (basically, a rip-off of THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME).  One of the teens is Robert Reed who later went on to star as Mike Brady on THE BRADY BUNCH!

The movie is a bit more violent and bloody than the usual 1950s horror film, but overall it's pretty bad and VERY cheap.  I think it would make a good double feature with THE KILLER SHREWS.

I have that set but somehow the film has eluded me so far. I think I'll give it a spin tonight, simply because of Robert Reed.

I remember this one from the 70's and picked up a Creature Double Feature DVD set which had BLOODLUST on it. The DVD is faded, but I remember it well when younger. Good old movie film that must have been something back then. Never heard anyone talk about it though. The whole landing on a Island thing makes this film effective.

Saw the MSTed version. Don't know if I could handle it otherwise.

I saw the MST3K version as well, and thought it wasn't too bad... I kind of liked it because gory films were very uncommon back then, so it had some originality to itself... if you can ignore the obvious "Most Dangerous Game" compairisions... I thought the villians were absolutely hilarious! Who gets called Johndor or Eyeball anyway?
