Title: OT: Happy New Years!!
Post by: dean on December 31, 2005, 02:22:11 AM

As I sit here, pondering by my lonesome, an hour or so before the horde of people arrive at my house for New Years celebrations, I got to thinking how my year was.

All in all I'm pretty happy.  Sure, my career path, now that Uni is over, is a little daunting, but it is just another 'cliche' down the long 'another cliche' and I'll be fine.

As you may have noticed, I'm getting a little nostalgic at the moment [such as going through all the films I watched at Uni] but all in all I'd say it was a good year.

Anyways, I guess the point of this is to wish you all a Happy New Year!

What are you all doing for New Year?  Well I guess since many may actually read this next year, what did you do? Hording cans of food for the coming apocalypse?  Hanging out with good friends over a bbq and some booze?  Subjecting your party goers to an endless loop of Gigli running on the TV in the background at your shindig? [no kidding, I'm actually considering it, though if it can't loop I won't bother]

I'd ask what your New Years resolutions are, but they are generally a load of bollocks [unless you happen to come up with an interesting/unusual one]

And to all those who like a drink on New Years, happy hangovers for tomorrow!

See you all next year!

Hope you have a good one, and don't drive if you don't have to.   I'm no fun on new years. Several years ago I was driving home and was making a left turn at an intersection, well I was waiting to anyhow. A car in the opposite direction stopped in the middle of the intersection causing a multi-car collision with the traffic BEHIND him which was coming off of the highway at like 50mph. One of them clipped his bumper and swerved to avoid the pileup, heading straight towards me. That night I avoided a headon collision with a car travelling roughly 50mph by about 1 foot. Right before he was about to hit my drivers side headlight, he veered right and flew up the median next to me barrelling down it on our side.  I saw my life flash before my eyes and decided those new years beans I had gone out to get at the store were perhaps good luck after all...lol  Ever since then i am wary of drunk drivers (even tho i've been one of them a time or two), but there are more out on that night.

I do remember the Y2K new years where everyone waited in their house with hoards of water and supplies thinking the end of the world was coming...lol

I do think it would be fun to get a bunch of people together at a hotel, get some rooms and just party it up. That's probably really expensive tho, but then you could all go to your respective rooms when it's over and puke

Happy New Year to everyone.

I'm currently at work, but the wife and I are throwing a bit of a get together tonight.  I have two six packs of Guinness bottles cooling in the fridge for me tonight.  Nobody better touch them.

I hope everyone has a fun (and safe) night!

I totally wanted to stay in tonight, now I'm going to have to hide myself in a dark room. My freaky neighbor downstairs has been trying to invite me over to dinner lately, i don't know him very well nor his psycho girlfriend. Tonight he leaves this long message on my machine about having me over tonight. Hell to the no! I wanted to stay in and watch my twilight zone all night, now i'm going to dread he's going to keep calling or worse...come a knockin.

When it comes to neighbors, it's one thing to be friendly and say hi, but there has GOT to be a buffer zone. It wouldn't seem so weird if the last time he called to invite me to eat dinner with them to celebrate his girlfriends bday I told him no thanks and he replied "So what are you doing sunday at 7ish?" AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I always thought it would be the ghetto boy neighbors with the parties that would drive me to move. No, it's mr. rogers

Hey Susan, I'm staying in too. Want to come over at 7:00? No? How about 8:00? No? 8:30? How about I just come over and bring a bottle? No? How about two bottles and some oils? You know I'm training to be a masseuse. Scottie eleven fingers they call me. I'm getting my degree from these movies you watch online where they have sex in the end. They're good videos-- we should watch them some time. How about 9:00? No? You should loosen up. Take a drink of this.....

Happy New Years from a guy with an overactive imagination.

I'm staying in to work on a story I'm trying to turn into a short film in a year or so. It's got androids in it so it has to be good! Jealous androids.

Happy new year to all.

I'm not much of a party guy, and New Year's is no exception.

Some notable things for me that have happened this year:

1) First experinced what it's like to like a girl and go through the whole head ache of trying to win her over, then getting your heart broken when you're rejected. Oh well.

2) Began my quest for improving my body and began going to the gym and running.

3) Became an Eagle Scout and celebrated.

4) Turned eighteen.

5) Graduated High School

6) Began and ended my first term of Culinary School. Good so far.

Let's hope more good things happen this next year.

yeah i hear ya Dave. i'm not much of a party animal either. congrats on your accomplishments though. and don't worry on the whole heartache thing, you learn to deal with it better the older you get, and one day you'll meet someone who you don't have to bust your ass to get to like you (they will actually like you for the person you are).

I'm over the heartache Chopper. She likes me as a friend, and I'm fine with that now. You can in fact see a picture of her standing next to me in the Frapper, yeah that's the same girl.

Argh...

Who's idea was it to have a New Years party at my place anyways???  I am so tired, and there is so much to clean... I really should have thought this through...

Awesome New Years though!

[oh and Scottie, the short sounds good!]

Hurray!!! [my reasonably sour 'must clean up' mood has now transformed into one of expectation and glee!]

Though my head is still sore, my house is still messy and it's raining outside, I have to say, I'm still very excited by 2006!

Well, after work I had some things to do then put in a couple films from my Sci-Fi 50 Movies Pack. Destroy All Planets and Voyage to a Prehistoric for the look into the New Year.

Speaking of those 50 movie packs, I am actually quite dissappointed we don't have those here.  We have cheap movie packs, such as 'ten horror movies' etc but not these 50 packs, which seem a hell of a lot more fun.  Maybe I'll have to check ebay sometime soon for them.

I'm just in the middle of watching "Gamera Guardian of the Universe"

Then I'll try watch the other two of the triliogy (ms).

Party with Gamera, Gyaos,Legion, and Iris.

Dean the 50 Packs have a lot of films that are faded, but other than that ok. Would like to see better transfers of the color Gamera films and the color Italian Sword and Sandal films.

I'm listening to Steely Dan albums, and probably watching more Galactica later tonight.  NOT going out for any reason -- what Susan said, we just fear the drunks.  I think if you ever get caught driving drunk, you should lose your license for at least 5-10 years, forever if you repeat...  but hey, since I live in Washington, that's fortunately about the punishment here...

But man, Steely Dan is a great band to listen to on New Year's Eve...

We're having a strange New Year's eve here in Arkansas since most of the state is under a burn ban, no one is shooting fireworks. It has been and will be warm for the next few days with temps around 70 F during the day (normal should be high 40's).

We stay in every year, the wife and I aren't into parties or drinking at all. We usually pop open a bottle of Welch's Sparkling Grape juice for a toast when midnight rolls around.

Tonight TCM was showing alien invasion movies and I tuned in for the Quatermass Xperiment. Right now we're waiting for Dick Clark to come on.

Awe, how did I miss Quatermass Xperiment. Haven't seen that one yet.

Other than the two movies tonight I orders Pizza and had a big slice of Strawberry Short Cake.

Well, time to go to bed. Goodnight all and Happy New Year.
