Title: Star Trek on TVLand
Post by: trekgeezer on November 16, 2006, 08:30:10 AM
Star Trek will start playing TVLand this weekend. they'll be showing The Cage and one other episode on Friday night at 8 eastern time followed by The Wrath of Khan. There will be a marathon on Saturday night and some new interviews with Shatner and Nimoy.

I saw a clip from the interviews in which Nimoy says he was not Roddenberry's first choice for Spock. Can anyone tell us who the first choice was?

Shatner was also not the first choice for Kirk. We all know about Jeffrey Hunter, but who are two others considered for the role?

A hint, one turned it down because being in a SciFi show could ruin your career. The other one wanted a piece of the show and was rejected for it.

Cool!
I'll have to set the timer on my DVD recorder and get as many episodes as I can on disc.
Thanks for letting us know about this.

'fraid not, Scott.  These look like they are high quality, but the HD remastered one's are only on broadcast tv right now. Speaking of those, the CG guys redoing the effects are listening to the fans. They took to heart the complaints about how flat and cartoony the Enterprise looked and actually made a much more detailed and realistic model, which they started using a couple of weeks ago.

They sneak in some stuff too, like in the episode Arena. they made the Gorn blink so he doesn't look quite so fake.

Ozzymandias speaks: Martin Landau turned down both Mr. Spock and Illya Kuryakin.

However, I just saw on IMDB that according to Nimoy one of the actors to turn it down was George Lindsey from the Andy Griffith Show, Mayberry RFD and Hee Haw.  :bouncegiggle:

Ozzymandias has spoken!!!
