Title: Effects (1979?)
Post by: lester1/2jr on August 03, 2007, 12:54:15 PM
This was one of those "everything is not as it appears"  horror movies where the nice relaxing environment turns not nice and tense.

The first half was slow, but the second half was good.  It's a decent movie with a fair amount of intrique and color, but is a few steps away from being a masterpiece or even a final draft.   Certainly not at the level of "tourist Trap" or "Blue Sunshine" for a low budget horror movie.

Also included as a bonus feature was one act of Alfred Jarry's controversial (in 1900) play "Ubu Roi"  which is freaky because I had just been reading about it.  The play is about a nihilistic sort of Hugo Chavez meets George Bush character who somehow becomes president, takes everyones property kills them ,declares war , etc.  So that was cool / weird that it was on there.  Plus a couple other things I didn't watch.

three out of five.  really it was made to be discussed on internet forums circa 30 years later and not much else.
