Hmm, a blast from the past.  I'll try to guess what I would have listed in 1986:

The Beatles, The White Album
The Beatles, 1967-1970 ("The Blue Album")
Pink Floyd, The Wall
Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon
Led Zeppelin, I
Led Zeppelin, IV
King Crimson, In the Court of the Crimson King
David Bowie, Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
The Moody Blues, Days of Future Passed

I'd listen to most of those again, though I burned myself out on "The Wall" and "Stairway to Heaven."  I still own the Beatles albums and Led Zep I.

In a very loose order (1991-1997):

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Prick by Prick
King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime by Faith No More
Nevermind by Nirvana
Dirt by Alice in Chains
Ten by Pearl Jam
Undertow by Tool
Too Dark Park by Skinny Puppy
Portrait of an American Family by Marilyn Manson
Rage Against the Machine by Rage Against the Machine

Honorable Mention: Linger Ficken' Good by the Revolting Cocks

I tried to limit it to stuff I would have actually picked as a teenager. A lot of the above I would still pick today as great albums, others have lost their charm for me.

A real hippy!!!
Bless yer heart.
In 1969 I was seven years old. We lived in Marlboro NY. My Ma took off for 3 days to see Woodstock.
She came back and slept for the whole day. When she was gone a black woman and her drunk boyfreind babysitted us...and let us watch CHILLER THEATER! Where we saw 2 ON A GUILLITINE.
Good times.
A week later we were in an orphange.

You connect to my generation - yours - in unexpected ways.  Your life experience makes me think... things like, was I lucky?  I love ya Ron Merchant

The records I listed I think were the first 10 or so that I either bought or received as a gift.  Man I loved my records back in the day.  I ended up having a lot and basically gave most of them away.   :bluesad:  I has at least a 100 or so left.

These are kind of mine and kind of what everyone was listening to
1. Beastie Boys -Check your Head

This was as big or bigger than Nevermind
though I'll admit "Teen Spirit" was the straw that broke the camels proverbial back

2. Janes Addiction -Ritual De Lo Habitual

before Nirvana these guys were the closest things to underground superstars

3. Slayer -South of Heaven and Reign in Blood

4. Mudhoney- Super fuzz Big Muff ep

I thought these guys fell off when they lost the blatant 60's throwback.

5. `Cypress Hill- I remember driving down the highway when we heard "pigs" for the first time and were like "what ??"

6. The Cure "Disintegration" , Depeche Mode "Violator" The Smiths most of their stuff

This stuff I had previously written off as wimpy I developed a taste for as I got a little older.

7. Youth of Today "Break Down the Walls" Sick of It All played Boston more and were kind of the ones you rooted for but YOT were really the head of the crown of the harcore thing and this album was amazing. The next one they were kind of treading water. By the time stuff like Judge came out I was done with hard core.

8. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones " Devil's Night Out" with the exception of Fishbone there was really nothing like the Bosstones, hard to believe now that there are dozens of such bands. The loud guitars with the horns, it was just crazy and different. This album has some really good stuff. Saw them many times. It was as close as Boston got to being a part of the whole buzz band thing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbcxUddD1sQ&playnext=1&list=PL9CCDB392BA661EE7

^ from a different album but always liked this one.

9. Death "Leprosy" and "Spiritual Healing".  Deaths "Open Casket" was the first death metal song I remember hearing. Leprosy was an amazing lp and when Spiritual Healing came out the exitment continued, it was bigger and better produced.

10. I'll finish  this later
