For those of us that grew up in the North Texas area it was Icky Twerp:

He hosted the morning kids show,Slam Bang Theater, which featured cartoons,Three Stooges shorts and sidekicks in gorilla costumes. It was a great way to start the day.

There was also Mr.Peppermint...the host of Peppermint Place.

Awwwwww.... Mr. Peperment.  I remember him.  I've been debating between him and Mr. Rodgers.  This afternoon I thought about Sheri Louis.  I wish they still made shoes like these.   :bluesad:

Never really had one of these.

Here in Philly, we had Captain Noah.

Although, by my time, he was 'pushed back' to noon in favor of cartoons. So, his show would start at Noon, but by that time us kids would be out playing.

He stayed on a few years, but was interrupted for sports and cancelled/retired soon.

Channel 3 Clubhouse. A local show that aired before  this....

I hated Romper Room. But I loved channel 3 Clubhouse. Go figure.

I dont recall the womans name who hosted the show-but I was only 7 years old and I recall she smelled real nice.

I'm not the only one who recalls it-

it aired out of Kalamazoo.
I was actually on it once.
It showed old Ruff and Ready cartoons. One of the worst cartoons ever-

Tell me 'bout it, man.

I enjoyed it for a bit, but once it was pushed later, the football field called.

I think (gonna check now), that he was switched over to Sunday morning, but sandwiched between the 6am news and the 8:00 infomercials, and I usually wasn't up til 8:30...

Fred Kirby

If you lived in North Carolina he was an Icon. In the 1970's I used to watch him on WBTV channel 3 from Charlotte. Every Sunday at noon he would host a half hour of Little Rascals shorts and do his singing cowboy act. He'd sing "Jimmy Crack Corn" and other songs and yodel. His sidekick was Uncle Jim, a Gabby Hayes type character (played by then WBTV station manager Jim Patterson). I don't remember the name of the show in that incarnation, but in the early 1980's it was changed to "Fred Kirby's Cartoon Coral." The Little Rascals shorts were replaced with Looney Tunes. He also made a lot appearances at an old west theme park called Tweetsie Railroad. I met him at the county fair when I was 9 and got his autograph on the back of one of my mom's checks. As of the late 80's he was still doing the show, but it had moved to early Saturday Morning right before the new CBS cartoons. Uncle Jim had passed away by then and was replaced by a guy in a Davey Crockett outfit. I cant remember his name because I didn't watch it that much as a teenager. Fred Kirby died in the mid 1990's.

Bill Jackson had several different kid shows on in Chicago in the 70's He hosted cartoons, did cool art stuff and had weird character segments. He was the best ever.
