Title: LOCAL MUSIC SHOWS Post by: alandhopewell on August 01, 2012, 01:26:21 PM This is mainly for us old folks....back in the 50's, into the 60's, many local markets had their own music programs, a'la BANDSTAND, which itself started as a local show.

I'm pretty sure that was my first introduction to music videos.

It was sort of like a cheesy, local version of "America's Got Talent." Sarah Silverman actually got her start on that show. Anyway, I really hated the show . . . they'd have everything from singing to tap dancing to baton twirling . . . just about anything. It was almost like watching a telethon without the money-raising part. Here's a taste of it:
