Title: still the best optical illusion
Post by: zombie no.one on May 12, 2015, 06:34:55 PM
this is old, I'm guessing at least three quarters of you will have seen this (not specific enough? how about 19/23rds of you), but this never fails to blow my mind.

even though I know 100% that squares "A" and "B" are exactly the same shade of grey it still refuses to make sense that they are

how can it be truuuuueeeeee?!?!?!? noooo....

I never believed this - but sure enough once I removed the background, I guess they are the same color.

The best optical illusion for others is that my undies appear to be sparkling clean.

yep. the thing is, you look at that, then look back at the image, and it doesn't look like the 2 same squares, lol

I loaded the image into the GIMP and used the dropper tool to verify they were the same.

I wear my Geek hat proudly, by the way.

As a photographer, I understand the 'why' behind this illusion, but it still frustrates me that I see it the way I do in context.  It is carefully crafted.
