This is a strange film in that it is a war film but has a good sense of humor as well.

Set during the awful Anglo-Boer War (1899 - 1902), this film, based on a famous SA book, deals with the guerrilla warfare used by the Boer soldiers against the British which include blowing up trains, bridges, etc, in fact anything to slow down the takeover.

Into this mix comes the mysterious rider in the night who infiltrates the British lines and attempts to cause confusion there and succeeds quite well.

Sample of the humor: a child soldier is given a pair of shoes too big for him.

Child: "The English can take their damned shoes back!"
[Shoe flies off his foot and hits a sleeping soldier in the head]
Soldier: "Yes, dear..." [falls asleep again]

Soldiers on day duty at the camp gate seeing a patrol going out to look for the rider:

Soldier [disgusted] "Typical army. Going out in the daytime to look for the rider in the night."  :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle:
