It's very little known but he had a bit part in "return of the archons" on "star trek".

My favorite movie with him in  it was "Galaxy of terror".

That's a bummer. R.I.P. sir.

Until recently, I was familiar with him mostly due to his work in Rob Zombie's flicks, but when I started digging deeper into vintage exploitation/blaxploitation movies of the '70s I quickly learned that he was around a lot longer than I thought.

I keep seeing him in stuff like The Big Doll House, The Big Bird Cage, Coffy, Foxy Brown, etc., and I'm always like "Hey, look, it's Captain Spaulding!"

My wife was watching a Charlie's Angels re-run a couple of months ago and he turned up in that as well.

His Wiki page sez he even had a small part in the James Bond film Diamonds are Forever, which I haven't seen in a while but I'm def going to keep an eye out for him next time I re-visit it.

He and another gangster throw Lana Woods out a window!

It was only after I saw him in House of 1,000 Corpses that I heard his name and realised just how many films I'd seen him in. Will spin up a movie or two of his tomorrow and watch them in his memory.

Now I have to see 3 FROM HELL. He was 80 years old when he did this film.

"Tuttie f**kin' Fruttie!"

I know the DEVIL'S REJECTS is a bloody, sick movie. It's also funny! And that's because of Sid Haig!

Rob Zombie posted this today.

Quote
Well, today marks one year since my buddy Sid Haig left us. We did a lot of stuff together over the twenty years we were friends. He was my first and only choice for Captain Spaulding back in 1999. As sad as it was, I am so glad he got to play Spaulding one last time even if it was brief. He gave it all he had. That was March 2018. Obviously we had originally planned to do much more back then but his health made it impossible.
I can only hope this role will help him live on for future generations of horror fans.

One of my favorite roles was along side Lon Chaney Jr. in SPIDER BABY (1964).
