Title: Dream Kids Big Adventure
Post by: pacman000 on May 10, 2020, 10:34:19 AM
In the late 50's Japan Dream Tourism tried to partner with Walt Disney to create a version of Disneyland for Japan. Disney agreed to help, but somewhere along the way things got mixed up, Disney pulled out, & Japan Dream Tourism continued alone. They built the park, Nara Dreamland, themselves, & it was successful til the mid-80's when Tokyo Disneyland opened. Japan Dream Tourism's president died around the same time, & his family & the company's investors fought for control of the company.  The family won, & they sold the company to Daiei, a supermarket chain which was diversifying by buying entertainment venues. Then the Japanese economy collapsed & Daiei spent the better part of two decades on life support.  Nara Dreamland was put on the back burner. It was left open, but Daiei didn't have the cash needed to improve the park. In the late 90's Daiei did invest some money trying to turn Dreamland around.

-They licensed Ultraman, & created a new show for the park.

-They build a new roller coaster, the ASKA.

-They created a local kids show, Dream Kid's Big Adventure, which gave kids tours of the park.
