According the the movie’s writer, Lugia was supposed to be the god of creation, which would explain why he as above the other 3 birds. (The scene explaining this was cut in the English version; it described as the start of evolution.) Also, Lugia was supposed to be genderless, & the writer wanted a female voice actor, since creation is a motherly duty. He didn’t tell anyone on the production team about that tho, & he considered committing suicide when he heard they gave the character a male voice. I’d argue there’d need to be something above Lugia tho; since he/she needed some sort of ritual to revive him/her. I think GameFreak’s come up with one or two other creation stories for the Pokemon world since then. Back to the article... Ash didn’t win the league, but he wasn’t a failure either. He actually made it there; he lasted longer than Gary; he made good friends, etc. Maybe he aimed for the stars & hit the moon; that’s not bad, even if it’s short of the goal. |
