Watched it Sunday night at TCM. I had seen it 45 years ago on a double bill with CARRIE. I had not realized it was directed by DAN CURTIS whose crap I love. This crap I do not love. :tongueout: Title: Re: BURNT OFFERINGS (1976) Post by: zombie no.one on October 20, 2021, 01:55:47 AM watched this last year and found it verrrrryyy slloooooowwwwww zzzzzzzzz

I LOVED it! Title: Re: BURNT OFFERINGS (1976) Post by: Allhallowsday on October 20, 2021, 04:01:05 PM Karen Black? Oliver Reed? Bette Davis? I LOVED it! I love DAN CURTIS productions, I love KAREN BLACK, I love BETTE DAVIS, I enjoy OLIVER REED. I do not love nor enjoy BURNT OFFERINGS. BETTE is wasted! BLACK's performance is all over the place, but not in a good way, and though OLIVER chews on scenery, it doesn't help. We hear their voices, chatting at the end, but we don't even get a cool creepy denoument with BURGESS MEREDITH and ELAINE STRITCH. Lots of script problems with that deflated dud. Here's the whole movie in under 3 minutes: http://youtu.be/Oo_6Fb5k2lo (http://youtu.be/Oo_6Fb5k2lo) https://youtu.be/Oo_6Fb5k2lo (https://youtu.be/Oo_6Fb5k2lo) Seriously over-under acted with a pointless jumble of a script and not scary, maybe gross but not intentionally. ROBERT COBERT provides music (just like he did with Dark Shadows) I kind of like it, but it's rotten. Title: Re: BURNT OFFERINGS (1976) Post by: RCMerchant on October 20, 2021, 05:22:30 PM I dunno. I found it a creepy haunted house movie.
Title: Re: BURNT OFFERINGS (1976) Post by: Rev. Powell on October 20, 2021, 06:32:58 PM I thought it was underwhelming and a waste of an outstanding cast.

Well that kid goes back into the pool ALONE with the previously murderous poppy catatonic immobile on a lawn chair watching and possessed MOM jumps in the pool to save her son from his 2nd near-drowning in the same pool... the 2nd time, there was a tsunami in the pool... Title: Re: BURNT OFFERINGS (1976) Post by: Alaric De Marnac on November 14, 2021, 09:02:56 PM This movie almost seems like a t.v. movie which isn't to surprising since Dan Curtis made a lot of them. The creepy chauffer with the evil grin was the most memorable part of the movie.
