Title: Censorship in SA projects
Post by: Trevor on January 27, 2022, 01:35:15 AM
There must be something in the water here because I'm currently working on two projects at the same time about SA censorship which was, during apartheid, the worst such system in the world.  :buggedout:

I'm working on a docco with a film company and the current censor board called me yesterday to see what we had for them to use in an exhibition, things like pictures, newspaper clippings etc.**

** I promised them a pair of my old undies  :tongueout:

In some cases a little censorship might be excused.

(We won't get into what your undies may indicate about the state of the water there)

It's just odd that in the space of less than a month, there have been 2 enquiries regarding the same subject.  The last time I had that was when I got 20 enquiries regarding material in our archives for the TV series Great South Africans back in 2005.

It only hit me the other day that I am almost a life long opponent of censorship and here I am helping our local censor board with a project: I need to go lie down.  :buggedout:

I haven't heard back from the www.fpb.org.za (http://www.fpb.org.za): hearing from them is like hearing from the tax dept  :buggedout: but the other project director emailed me yesterday, asking when they could set up an interview.
