I have to give some credit to the people over at Anchor Bay, without whom we fans of  Indie films of the past (Beastmaster, Evil Dead, The Hills Have Eyes) would not see our favorite movies ever released on DVD, or if they were they would be released "bare bones" and we would all have to be content.

Well much to my surprise on FEB 21st Anchor Bay is releasing a SE for CLASS OF 1984!!

Now if you don't remember this film, or only kind of remember it.  It was the beginning of all the high school teachers vs. out of control students (i.e. Dangerous Minds, 187, Lean On Me etc.) but with CLASS OF 1984 we are given no reason as to why the kids are so out of control, no "bad home life" excuses.  Just a bunch of punk kids that don't care about s***!!!

I always remembered this film because it was banned in the UK and quite a few other countries, due to gratuitous nudity, violence, drugs etc. (basically everything we in the USA love) which even by todays standards has some scenes that are teeth grinding (i.e. the rape scene).

If you have no idea what I am talking about I put the AB put the old school trailer for the film up and I attached the link below:

All in all I just have to give my hats off to Anchor Bay for keeping us guys who like "off the wall" movies happy, and to the hopes of a I COME IN PEACE Colllector's Edition DVD in the near future!!!

Yeah Anchor Bay is awesome - a few other favorites are Blue Underground, No Shame, Shriek Show/Media Blasters, and Image (they make Criterion). I'm also beginning to get into Synapse as well.

As for 'Class of 1984' - I remember seeing it once in TV, and it's stuck with me all these years later. I nearly bought an old VHS video of it before I found out the DVD was coming out.

Good call on Image, I love their releases.

Do you have a link to the Synapse site (google is giving me some weird medical sites)?

I don't think I am up to speed with them, and wouldn't mind checking out what they got out there (I may already own some of their releases and just haven't put 2 and 2 together yet)

thanks!

Synapse put out Jean Rollin's 'Grapes Of Death'. Here's the site - http://www.synapse-films.com/

Awesome, thanks!

They are releasing Maniac Cop!!! I haven't seen that in years (like 15 to be exact)

I wonder if it will live up to what I remember?
