Well, I just found out today Akira Ifukube passed on Feb. 8th of "multiple organ failure" (I doubt that's a very pleasent way to go...) at the age of 91. He wrote music for about a zillion giant monster movies released by Toho, as well as the bulk of the Godzilla films. Sad day, indeed.

I could have sworn he died years ago, like a year after doing (very beautifully I might add) Godzilla vs Destroyah.

And I don't believe he did music for any Godzilla movies past Destroyah.

But if I'm wrong then a King has just died!

Oh yes and I consider Ifukube to be THE Godzilla composer but there are plenty other composers that are very talented, but Akira Ifukube is the best so far.

I've always had a fondness for the work of Masaru Sato myself- I love his themes for Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla & Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster-  but Ifukube definitly is the one most oft-remembered. I think Ifukube's old themes have been used in most of the G films following Godzilla vs. Destroyer, but he never composed anything new for those. Ifukube's themes were usually very somber or dramatic, which was definitly a must for the original Gojira, but I always preferred the livelier scores of Sato.

Seven years on MacGyver and you cannot figure this out? We got belt buckles, shoe laces, and a piece of gum. Build a nuclear reactor for crying out loud.  You used to be MacGyver, MacGadget, MacGimmick, and now you are now 'Mr. MacUseless'.

Wow, I thought he died years ago.

It's odd I was a little shocked that I heard he died recently instead of years ago, but after a day or so I recovered.

It must be because I pre-maturaly assumed he was dead. None the less I will miss him.

That's the end of the original four.

Farewell.

And thanks for all the movie memoires.
