Cult Movie Poster Competition

Ok, so I just recently found what is quite possibly the coolest competition I've seen, and it is SOOO right up the alley of all those who are here.

I give to you the The Cult Movie Poster Competition

The deal is [if you didn't just explode from excitement/look at the link] for you to create an original cult movie idea and create it into a poster in order to win a 12 month pass to the ACMI cinemas 'Freaky Fridays: Late Night Cult' sessions [in Melbourne, Australia for those not playing at home] which is in itself a great prize, but wait, there's more.  The winner also recieves a 23 DVD prize pack of cult movies.  

The pack includes the jello-horror of The Blob, Francis Ford Coppola's Dimentia 13, The Night Stalker and The Night Strangler, Night of the Living Dead, Vincent Price in The Monster Club and Theatre of Blood, and the documentary Flesh and Blood: The Hammer.

This has to be the greatest contest ever, and I am going to enter a poster, however there is a limit of one entry per person [though I'm sure a couple of my friends would love this idea and enter themselves too]

So I got to thinking, with such genius minds at work here, and since it doesn't actually say that entrants have to be an Australian resident, for those interested, enter and represent "Badmovies.org" in what we know best: Ideas for crappy crappy cult movies. [I know of certain Squirrel Ideas that could possibly be converted to the big screen poster!]

If you are serious about this [and boy I hope you all are] let me know and I can put in an entry on your behalf [ie, fill out the details with your names and stuff, but save you on posting a picture all the way from Overseas.]

Otherwise, it's a fun thing to just come up with crazy movie ideas [which we do all the time anyway, let's face it.] Or we could even come up with a group effort and post that in [though I'm not sure how that would work exactly, but really, I'm too damn excited to give a hoot!]

I think this board has the potential to win this damn competition, and as Bad-movie lovers, I would be ashamed if we didn't even have one representative [I'll admit I'm not too good at the graphic design, so I'd much prefer someone with talent take up the challenge, even if I'm going to come up with an idea I'll submit myself regardless.]

Yea, they sounds pretty good. I'm going to give it some thought, but I not an artist. My daughter is good at drawing. Maybe I'll to the poster of one of my film ideas and have my daughter do the graphics.

I don't think they pay your travel to Australia do they? Winning a trip to Australia would be great were we could also stop by my wifes home in the Philippines on our way to or from there and maybe check out New Zealand and Bali.

They wouldn't pay for the travel, unfortunately its a relatively small competition, but one which has really set off a spark in me, and I'm sure will get others curious, but since it is an Australian/Melburnian competition, methinks they aren't going to expect entries from the US, and though they don't mention region restrictions, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't allow it [but hey if one of you folks wins, give me the 12 month pass!!!]

Just an update on the final product.

Being the silly sod I am, I got the final date mixed up for the competition, and as such I needed to do a quick, very slack job of a somewhat crappy poster, since I wanted to enter one, and just slapped it all together in about an hour or so.

As you can see it's a pretty quick, crap job, but I wanted to put at least something in for the comp, and besides, evil clowns be scary!  [on a side note the arms are me, but not the person, in case you were wondering]
