DOG DAY (1984) a.k.a. Canicule - Really good French film starring Lee Marvin in his third to last film. This film is so strangly bizzarre and I must say a great find. I've had this film on DVD for about 2 years now and almost traded it in without seeing it because of a bad review I read after buying it, but as it turns out it's a real treasure. All the Characters are wierd and all the actors are good. Even Tina Louise has a role near the beginning and end of the film. The actors/actresses I never heard of, but they were good. It's about a heist of an armored vehicle in a French city. The gun battle is unique and crazy. Marvin escapes with millions of dollars and runs through a field of golden wheat and hides in a farm house barn. A bizzarre family run the farm as he becomes their captive in some of the strangest scenes I've seen in a while. You'll really enjoy this film. Check it out you won't be disappointed. Bought it for $2 a couple years ago at a local grocery store.

For some reason, I really like that poster.  It vaguely reminds me of something Romero would have as a poster, probably.  Sounds interesting [and it's always fun finding a cheap movie that is such gold]

The poster is good, but the actual scenes in the movie are even better if you get the chance.

Marvin was in some really weird thrillers. Recently saw him in "Prime Cut", a 70s noirish film where he plays a mobster who travels to the midwest to confront another local mafioso played by Gene Hackman. That film manages the Midwest to look nightmarish, just imagine. See it if you can find it, it is awesome.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

I went and looked it up on IMDb, and as much as I like using it to find out about movies and such, it seems like most viewers were really not into this movie at all.

Thats why I almost traded after purchasing DOG DAY without even seeing it. After reading a bad review on imdb.com I figured it was a total waste of time, but it has turned out to be a true gem. See it if you get the chance LH-C. Let me know what you think.
