Not only that, but the software technology that has gone into developing video games has also been very useful for military tactical and strategic simulation.  This includes everything from AI to graphics/rendering.  3D video games are the closest thing to 'virtual reality' we have, and while they may be fun to play, and classified as 'entertainment,' the technology, science and engineering behind them is rock solid.

If we start banning popular video games, we lose a whole segment of computer science research funded by private sales (rather than the government dole).
