Now THIS movie is a lot of fun!  And it comes on a double-feature DVD with another of Del Tenney's horror hits THE CURSE OF THE LIVING CORPSE!

THE HORROR OF PARTY BEACH is about sea monsters created by a chemical spill who attack teenagers at the beach, in the woods, at slumber parties, etc.  The creatures have ping-pong ball eyes and their mouths are full of what appear to be huge hot dogs!

While the teens dance the day and night away to the tunes of the Del-Aires (who perform songs like THE ZOMBIE STOMP), the stupid-looking monsters lurk around in search of new victims.

Audiences must have been somewhat surprised at the amount of blood in this movie.  It's very tame by today's standards (and is in black & white), but it's pretty bloody for an early 1960s horror flick.  The first victim is a teenage girl who gets slashed up pretty good - - we see the monster raking it's claws across the girl's bloody skin, then we see a close-up of her leg with a thick stream of blood running down it.  Eventually, her bloody corpse washes up on the beach.

This is a fast-paced flick that I would describe as a cross between a Frankie Avalon / Annette Funicello beach party movie and a cut-rate version of CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON.  See it if you have a chance!

I am still waiting for my DVD of this to arrive.  It has probably been 20 years since I watched it and, at that time, it was on a Saturday afternoon creature feature.  I still remember how absurd some parts were though, even to my pre-teenager brain.

Believe it or not, this movie gave me nightmares when I snuck a peek at that monster when I was around 3 or 4 years old. For that reason alone, it has a special place in my heart (I guess it's almost one of those "I overcame my fear so now I love it" moments).
