FEAR STRIKES OUT (1957) - Anthony Perkins stars as real life Major League baseball player Jimmy Piersall of the Boston Red Sox. This is Perkins playing a ballplayer who is having a breakdown before he would play Norman Bates in PSYCHO (1960) . It's a rather disturbing that I never saw growing up and I thought I saw all the baseball movies. The film uses real crisp footage from Fenway Park and the real Boston Red Sox in the background I believe.

I have seen this 3 or 4 times, but not recently.  I thought it was a decent baseball movie, but many people have criticized it because Perkins is terrible at throwing a baseball and he looks foolish doing it.  But he was a natural choice to play a mentally troubled athlete.  I'll have to watch it again soon.
