VOODOO BLACK EXORCIST (1974)

[The Burgomaster]

This movie is included in the DRIVE-IN MOVIE CLASSICS 50 MOVIE PACK.

The movie begins with a voodoo ceremony in which a woman is decapitated and her lover is drugged and buried alive.  Flash forward 1,000 years to modern times (we know it is modern times because they show stock footage of NASA rockets).  The mummy is being transported in the cargo hold on an ocean liner by a group of scientists.  Of course, the mummy (who looks like Yul Brynner with chocolate cake batter on his face) comes to life and starts lurking around the ship.  He sees a passenger who looks like his lover (except that the passenger is a white woman with red hair).  Naturally, he MUST have her.

For some reason, the mummy's skin rejuvenates itself and he looks like a normal guy.  However, occasionally, it decomposes and looks like cake batter again.  He switches back and forth from "normal" to "monster" several times.  I think it has something to do with sunlight.

The mummy cuts off one guy's head (the decapitated head is obviously fake) and puts it in bed with his "reincarnated" lover.  The scene of her waking up and seeing the fake head on the pillow beside her is pretty funny.

The mummy also enslaves another guy by stabbing him with a sharp ring that has curare in it.

Oddly enough, I found this dubbed movie to be reasonably entertaining.  It has a really disappointing ending, but the rest of it is okay (in a bad-movie way).

By the way - - this movie has NOTHING to do with a black exorcist (or a white exorcist, for that matter).
