New Film Fest Entry --

I just found out today that a film I did this Spring has been chosen to be shown as part of the Short Films category in the Boulder International Film Festival --
This is actually a big deal, as the tiny film I'm in had to beat out hundreds of other entries --
I'm a scuzzy landlord --
I do a sort of Sidney Greenstreet takeoff:  Smashing an invisible fly on the wall with a swatter --
complaining about the Psycho next door --
Hell, I made the crew laugh . . . Hard!
It's called "Still Water"/directed by Jason Tahara, if you're in the neighborhood.

Good luck PJ, that's awesome news.  It's a minor goal in my life to be shortlisted for a semi-major film festival, but so far I've only treaded the waters [semi-successfully] at my University's film festivals.  But since I'm a graduate now, I should start thinking better and bigger!

That's great, but what role do you play in the film?

Congratulations, by the way.  Let us know if it ever makes it to a form we can enjoy, ie. the internet or a short film DVD compilation.  And an international film fest?  I predict a cult following in Spain, Portugal and, for some reason, Iceland.

Once upon a time, I made $2000 for 20min. work, as part of a comedy team, in San Diego:  Hoffman and Johnson.  We did taxicab comedy, sort of like Burns & Schriber --
I've made more, but that still stands as the record, re. time worked for money earned.

I would like to see it. Do you work other jobs while acting?

Re.  Other Jobs:
Most of the people I know in the biz either have to sell Real Estate, or cars, or drive taxi, or do something to make ends meet between gigs --
Unless you're hitting at least one big role a year that can carry you over, then other work is essential.
I work in a bank as a Financial Services Rep., which is a sort of glorified sales job.  I open IRAs, CDs, checking accounts, do Home Equity Loans, sell bonds, blah blah blah etc.  It's a sort of catch-all job that I can walk away from for 2 or 3 days or however long I need to do my shooting.
Most actors are unemployed in their chosen profession at any given time -- I think the Screen  Actors Guild puts it at around 90% --

I just came home tonight, back from the theatre, full of lots of people enjoying the complimentry food and drink.  Long conversations with those of us who've decided to "Give Up" acting, or whatever.
