Of all the 1980's S&S movies, this one isn't too bad. The three-bladed sword seems to be inspired by James Bond. I would've liked to have seen the planned sequel. The producers were hoping for a franchise..

Both CONAN THE BARBARIAN and THE SWORD AND THE SCORCERER came out the same year of 1982. Saw CONAN THE BARBARIAN first so didn't think much of THE SWORD AND THE SCORCERER at the time. Might have to give it another chance someday. I think their are others on the board who did like THE SWORD AND THE SCORCERER.

I love THE SWORD AND THE SORCERER.  It's the only good movie Albert Pyun ever made.

Having seen this in the theater, I must say what went on in the audience (see my comment under "User Comments" at Andrew's review of the film" is much more memorable than anything that happened on the screen.

Funny thing, but what I recall most about this movie is the way my mom & my sister freaked out & changed the channell when they showed the knife going into a piece of tinfoil, then Cromwell making guestures with his arm while Xusa's making faces at him.

I suppose you would've had to have been there, but it still leaves me scratching my head.
