The Pyx  (1973) - Detective Henderson (Chistopher Plummer) investigates the death of a hooker (Karen Black) in Montreal. The story is told in reverse starting with Black falling from a building and is shown in flashbacks of the events leading up to her death interwoven with the investigation.

Henderson begins to suspect something satanic at work as he follows the trail to solving case.

The flashbacks of Black's heroin addicted lifestyle are filled with a palpable sense of doom. You just know something terrible is in store for her.

Werewolf in a Girls Dormitory (aka Lycanthropus) (1962) - A werewolf like creature is murdering the students at a school for wayward "girls" (not a one of them was younger than 25). Toss in a side story about the local nobleman being blackmailed by one the girls and you have a run of the mill  Italian werewolf movie (no Paul Naschy though). The Peter Lorre look-a-like custodian guy was a nice touch.

Don't Look in the Basement (1973) - A young psychiatric nurse move to a new job at a mental asylum run by a doctor with some innovative ideas about treating the insane (if you call getting in the gut with an axe from one of your patients innovative).

I'll have to get back to you on this one, I fell asleep before the end.

The Bloody Brood (1959) - Peter Falk plays a salesman named Nico, who hangs with the local beatnik crowd. What does he sell? Dreams, baby, dreams. Actually he's a small time dope dealer who after witnessing (and not helping) an old man die, decides to commit a murder just for the thrill of it. He enlists the aid of another would be beatnik, a tv commercial director name Francis. One night at a party a telegram delivery boy comes to the door. They invite him in a feed him a hamburger laced with ground glass.

The kid later dies at a pay phone calling his older brother. The older brother is a persistent investigator and manages to unravel Nico's world.

Cool movie man, just for the farout dialogue.

Drive-in Massacre (1976) - Somebody's killing the patrons at the local drive-in with a sword. The first killings are pretty okay, a guy is stretching out the window to get the speaker when he gets beheaded, then his girlfriend gets her neck pierced through and through. It goes down hill from there, especially when we are introduced to tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum the local detectives.

The movie includes a trick ending and some let's say "interesting" music (at first I thought it was something wrong with the disk). The gory parts are done well, but the parts in between the murders are pretty bad.

Night Train to Terror (1985) - I had my suspicions watching this and then I looked it up on IMDB and they were found to be true. This is an anthology movie which takes place on train with God and Satan discussing the disposition of the characters from the three stories. Well, the three stories consist of three edited down movies (yes edited down into little 20 minute or so stories). This of course leads to some well,  rather course editing. Add to that the annoying narration by the conducter, and the 80's music video interludes between segments featuring the group travelling on the train.

Here is a rundown of the three stories:

The Case of Harry Billings (edit of an unfinished movie called "Scream Your Head Off"), with John Philip Law and Richard Moll. Talk about some quick editing, I bet no scenes carries more than five lines of dialogue. Lots of scenes of Moll terrorizing and dismembering nude buxom young ladies.

The second story is taken from a movie called "The Deathwish Club" and is about a man trying to save a young lady from a cult that finds some innovative ways of playing Russian Roulette. Look out for some claymation stop motion.

The third story is takene from a film called "Cataclysm" and  features Cameron Mitchell as a detective searching for the murderer of a Nazi hunter and Richard Moll (this time playing an intellectual who wrote a book exclaiming that God doesn't exist). The killer ends up being some kind of demon. Very confusing stuff going on in this one. Look out for a lot more really bad stop motion claymation action.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Trek Geezer has been watching movies......... 4 of the 5 films listed below I have not seen yet.

Werewolf in a Girls Dormitory - Haven't been able to get a copy of this yet, but it often comes in packs of films where I already own the remaining titles, so I don't pick it up. Sounds like a good Italian Werewolf film.

Don't Look in the Basement - Ultra low budget rest home film. It's not a bad little film. I found it entertaining enough.

The Bloody Brood - I have this as one of my 50 packs and have been thinking about viewing it. Perhaps I'll check it out soon.

Drive-in Massacre - Have this in the same 50 pack. Dosn't sound promising. Will get around to it eventually I suppose.

Night Train to Terror - The title seems so familiar, but I don't think I've seen this one. The idea seems interesting. I think I have a copy of this film also.
