Saga of a Crew is a low budget sci-fi wanna be epic shot mostly during a period from 1982 - 1984. The film remained in a state of near completion until recently, when in 2004 production was resumed, new material added, and the film finally completed and released on DVD in October of this year. The story wisks us to the year 2187 where a fleet of 'cardboard spaceships' (they look good though) search for new resources for a depleted Earth. The charactors range from a hand-flapping commanding officer, to a respected space pilot, from stone cold diologue deliveries to credible performances. The director of photography uses a good number of rear head shots ( that way the actors can hide the scripts while they read the extremely important but difficult to memorize technical dribble!) One actor sounds like the godfather with a closepin on his nose. Honestly said all actors gave it their all and the lead actor was especially good,  however the styrofoam and duct tape universe which fences them in is as confining as the obviously miniscule budget which served to sterilize the soil which might otherwise have allowed great performances to germinate. A newly discovered B movie with good effects (for low budget 80s stuff) and great fun. The film runs 1 hour - 9 minutes. Of that, less than 10 minutes is new footage shot recently to complete the production. The plot involves a 3 man team dispatched on a desparate mission to retrieve a substance vital to the ships generators.  For lots more about this once lost, but now found cheese classic please see the film's official website at:   www.sagaofacrew.com

I thought Saga Of A Crew was well done considering when it first began.  Our technology has changed so much over  those years that if this was to be produced now with current technology it would be spectacular.   For a low budget film this was well done.  Obviously it's not perfect but this was not produced by a full time movie maker, this was a low budget home made film that the producer never gave up on.  Most people would not complete a project that has lingered on for 20 years but he did.  I say well done Producer Dan,  I would love to see what you can do now with the current photo technology, heck most people probably don't even know what types of cameras were used back then.  Keep up the good work and I hope to see your next production.   Thanks, Al   I highly recomend this film for anyone who likes Sci Fi and has an appreciation for home made productions.
