Beginning on Wednesday evening, February 28, 2007, Cuyahoga Community College will offer an 8 week evening course entitled:  "B"ware! Bad Movie Directors from the 50's & Beyond! This film appreciation course is primarily a study of 3 legendary film directors of the 1950's and 1960's (Roger Corman, William Castle, & Ed Wood) that were famous for their output of so-called "B movies" in the science fiction, horror, and fantasy fields.  A viewing of their film output on "the big screen", as they were intended to be watched, will be supplemented with an analysis of their thematic content and a comparison with the popular culture and social/political contexts of their times. Also shown will be lesser known and contemporary examples of "cheapie B" science fiction.

Visit the website at: http://www.tri-c.edu/community/movies.htm for more information or to enroll.

Now that is a cool course.  I was always impressed with many of the ideas that came out in Corman's films.  Nothing terribly deep, but all solid ideas to work with and they often did not seem "tacked on" like sometimes happens with messages in low-budget movies.
