Is Forbidden Planet a B-film?

Yes
No

Definitely an "A" movie, good acting, good story, great special effects, even by todays standards, obviously a major studio effort with a big budget. It's just a good sci-fi movie, and it always will be.

I'd actually call this an A film, as I don't think that there are many B films that can boast being based on a play by William Shakespeare ~ I think this one was based on The Tempest if I'm not wrong.

Yep. Also oscar nominated and well acted. It looks cheesy by todays standards but for a 1956 movie I think its pretty superb. *Votes no*

I don't know if this counts as a B-Movie but one of the best (and funniest) Shakespeare adaptaions is Scotland, PA (2001).  It's Macbeth set in a 70's fast food resturant.  Very funny indie movie...Plus, it's got my girl Maura Tierney in it.  :teddyr:
