Did you know there exists a post-apocalyptic movie starring Michael Ironside AND Vanity?  Would you believe me if I told you not only does such a film exist but it's essentially a remake of the classic western STAGECOACH?

No, really, that movie does exist and it's called Neon City.

Enjoy the review.

I enjoyed Neon City very much.

At the time I had seen it, I was in a rut of watching what post-apocalyptic movies I could get my hands on; and regretting that decision immensely.

Most of the movies were trying to be Road Warrior clones, and failing miserably; or just failing miserably.

Neon City took a western plot (far from uncommon in this sub-genre), added the trappings of a post-apocalyptic world, and injected plenty of character development (uncommon for this sub-genre) to build a satisfying story.

Among the classic and award winning, if not just popular, science-fiction movies, Neon City is not going to be included nor well remembered. Among a glut of other movies within its sub-genre, it rests comfortably among the top of the heap.

Someone, however (as you mentioned), who is looking for an action movie is not going to find that much in this, but it does build its story nicely, and that kept my interest throughout the movie.
